The choices are many

Pinellas County is the seventh largest school district in Florida and ranks 21st of 16,000 school districts nationally. The district has approximately 110,000 students attending. Pinellas County  boasts five exceptional education schools, five partnership schools, two disciplinary schools, and nine career, technical and adult education centers, including the Clearwater Adult Education Center on the campus of Clearwater High School.

Pinellas County is truly a county of choice in terms of education. Magnet programs include: the arts, international baccalaureate, wellness and medical professions, criminal justice, teaching arts, technology, math, science and gifted studies. Countryside High School has one of the county’s largest television and audiovisual curriculum, while Clearwater High School is the proud home of its own:  Program for International Culture and Commerce. This program is open to all students entering 9th grade and is designed to prepare students to work in the international business community.

Private schools are also plentiful in Pinellas. There are over 70 private and parochial schools for grades pre-K through 12 with an approximate enrollment of 15,000. Annual tuition ranges anywhere from $1,500 annually to over $12,000.

For continuing and advanced education, several colleges, universities and vocational-technical institutions are within short traveling distances. Each offers a wide range of pre-med, computer science, nursing and specific skilled programs developed for employers’ requests. St. Petersburg College offers four-year degree programs. With campuses throughout Pinellas County, Clearwater residents can participate in degree or continuing education programs. The University of South Florida has campuses in Tampa and St. Petersburg and offers classes throughout the county.
